Corporate Health + Wellness Programme
Queensland, 2003
A Brisbane marketing firm approached kwokka to deliver corporate health information to their employees and formulate a complete ‘wellness’ programme aimed at improving staff health. Many of the employees were desk bound for the entire workday and some had developed poor eating and exercise habits as a result.
Our research both within the company and beyond the office confines revealed that the ‘boot camp’ approach often taken was unpopular and unsuccessful in the long term. The majority of people interviewed who had previously participated in teambuilding programmes of an intensely physical nature found they were more reluctant to enter into any exercise programmes.
We designed a Lifestyle Management Strategy and took the staff though a knowledge gathering process focused on their individual perceptions and capabilities. The LMS incorporated initiatives for generating ‘self-health’ patterns and habits, the aimbeing to achieve tangible increases to productivity (less sick days, greater focus during shorter hours) and well-being. A set of interactive tools were provided to help each member of staff create a more sustainable and achievable balance of priorities to suit their own situations.
